Summer is Party Season (What You Want To Know Wednesdays)

The sun is high and shining which means, it’s time for pool parties and BBQ’s! For most people, this is their favorite time of the year to get outdoors and soak up the sun’s rays. Going to the beach is popular during summer – but you don’t have to go to the beach to enjoy a summer day. Getting outside and BBQing will help keep heat out of your house, and there are tons of fun ideas for outdoor parties. Here are some tips to throw a fun backyard party for summer.

  1. Pool Party – If you have a pool, you already have all you need to have a successful summer party. Your guests can cool off in the pool while temperatures soar. Throw in some fun inflatable pizza, and unicorns to make it especially fun to float in the pool.

  2. Kid pool – you can use a plastic kid pool for more than swimming, fill one up with ice and use it to keep your cold food dishes cool.

  3. Simplify the sundae – Dress up ice cream cones by dipping them in chocolate and roll them in nuts, mini marshmallows, crushed candy, etc. to give your cones some extra oomph. Pro tip: pre scoop ice cream into cupcake liners and store in the freezer until you’re ready to serve. You will save yourself time while you serve and less opportunity for ice cream to melt.

  4. Sunscreen and bug spray station – To help protect your guests from the sun and bugs, set up a station with spray sunscreen and bug spray. Pro tip: add sage to a fire pit or warm grill when you’re done cooking to keep bugs at bay. Don’t forget the citronella candles!

  5. Refreshment table – Step up your beverage game by creating a refreshment station where your guest can make their own infused water, mix juices, or their own cocktails.
